What is Jamboard and How Can I Use It?

If you attended the PD about Google Meet a few weeks ago, you heard them mention the Jamboard feature that is coming when Google rolls out the major changes/upgrades to Google Meet. Well, you don’t need to wait for that rollout. You can use Jamboard now.

Why would you use Jamboard?

Well, if you are having a difficult time calling on all of your students since Grid View isn’t always working or if you would like to increase the student engagement, then you want to try out Jamboard.

Ways to have a Jam Session:
  1. Simply use it as a whiteboard in Google Meet (by projecting your screen–for now). However, it’s more than a whiteboard because you can pull in images from the Google images, save work to the cloud automatically, and use the easy-to-read handwriting and shape recognition tool.
  2. Use the sticky note feature to have students respond to a prompt or have a large session brainstorming frenzy. You could also have students post the questions they have about the content on the Jamboard and other students could respond or you could use the Jam session as a parking lot of questions for the week and take them down as they get answered. I used it last week as a quick bellringer/icebreaker. Bellringer 8_27 2
